أنا أسْمى في الحُسْنِ قَدْراً وأعْلا

أنا أسْمى في الحُسْنِ قَدْراً وأعْلا

حيثُ أصبحْتُ لابنِ نصْرٍ مَحَلّا

حيثُ أصبحْتُ لابنِ نصْرٍ مَحَلّا

In beauty, I rank more sublime and higher still,

I hold the loftiest and highest rank in beauty,

since I became an abode for Ibn Nasr.

إنما جنّةُ العريفِ عَروسٌ

إنما جنّةُ العريفِ عَروسٌ

وأنا تاجُها الرّفيعُ المُحَلّا

وأنا تاجُها الرّفيعُ المُحَلّا

The Generalife is but a bride,

The Garden of al-ʿArif is but a bride,

and I am her lofty, jewel-adorned crown.

يوسُفٌ مُبدعي فرائِقُ وصْفي

يوسُفٌ مُبدعي فرائِقُ وصْفي

بحُلى العِزّ والكمالِ تحلّى

بحُلى العِزّ والكمالِ تحلّى

Yusuf, my maker, through the peerless wonders of my form,

Yusuf is my maker; thus my lovely qualities

arrayed himself in the jewels of glory and perfection.

are adorned with the ornaments of glory and perfection.

وجْهُهُ إنْ بَدا بأُفْقيَ صُبْحٌ

وجْهُهُ إنْ بَدا بأُفْقيَ صُبْحٌ

لا يُضاهَى سناهُ إذ يتجلّى

لا يُضاهَى سناهُ إذ يتجلّى

His face, when it rises, is dawn across both horizons;

His face, if it appears on my horizon, is a dawn

no radiance rivals his when it shines forth.

whose radiance is unmatched when it shines forth.

دامَ في غِبْطةٍ وطولِ سُرورِ

دامَ في غِبْطةٍ وطولِ سُرورِ

يَقْدُمُ النّصْرُ جُندَهُ حيثُ حَلّا

يَقْدُمُ النّصْرُ جُندَهُ حيثُ حَلّا

May he abide in bliss and lasting joy,

May he remain in bliss and lasting joy,

with victory preceding his host wherever he alights.

with victory leading his army wherever he alights.
