حلَلْتُI settled كماas أبْغيI desire بأسْعَدِin the happiest منزِلِabode
فماso not أناI عنfrom شُهْبِbright stars السّماءِthe sky بمَعْزِلِin isolation
I have settled, as I wished, in the happiest abode.
So I am not apart from the bright stars of heaven.
تفتّحتِopened الألْوانُthe colors منّيfrom me أزاهِراًblossoms
تُلاعِبُهاplay with them أيْديhands جَنوبٍa south wind وشمْألِand a north wind
My colors opened into blossoms,
With which the hands of south and north winds play.
فلُحْتُso I shone كمِثْلِlike الزُّهْرِthe bright stars والزَّهْرُand the blossoms فيon الرُبىthe hills
فمِنْso, among مُجْتنٍa plucker يأتيcomes علىon إثْرِthe heels of مُجْتَلِa beholder
So I shone like the bright stars and the blossoms on the hills;
Thus a flower-picker comes in the wake of a beholder.
تكامَلْتُI attained perfection إحْساناًin excellence وحُسْناًand beauty فمُبْصِريso whoever beholds me
برغْمِdespite الأعاديthe foes فيin سُرورٍdelight مُكمَّلِcomplete
I have attained perfection in excellence and beauty, so whoever beholds me
Is in complete delight, despite my foes.
فياso, O مُبْصِراًyou who behold منّيin me المحاسنَthe beauties والحُلَىand the adornments
أعِدْrepeat فيupon جَماليmy beauty نظرَةَa gaze المتأمِّلِthe contemplative observer
So, you who behold my beauties and adornments,
Cast a contemplative gaze upon my beauty once more.
إذاwhen احْتَفَلَgathered in numbers النّاديthe assembly وراقَتْand were pleasing صُدورُهُits places of honor
فليthen mine is رُتْبةُthe rank التّصْديرِbeing placed foremost فيin كلّevery مَحْفِلِgathering
When the assembly gathers and its places of honor please the eye,
Then mine is the rank of precedence in every gathering.
إذاwhen سُدِلَتْwere lowered حوْليaround me السّتورُthe curtains بمنزِلٍin an abode
نظرْتُI looked لهاat them والشُهْبُand the bright stars دونيَbeneath me منْfrom عَلِon high
When the curtains are lowered around me in an abode,
I gaze at them from on high, with the bright stars beneath me.
