Ah, may my father be ransom for a candle that has mirrored
By my father's life, a candle has described
the sun’s radiance, shining in its celestial spheres.
The years of the sun when it shone in its orbits
كَخَودٍlike a beautiful young maiden تناثَرَscattered منْfrom عِقْدِهاher necklace
كَخَودٍ تناثَرَ منْ عِقْدِها
لآلِئُpearls فيin جِنْحِthe cover of أحْلاكِهاher deep darkness
لآلِئُ في جِنْحِ أحْلاكِها
Like a beautiful young maiden, from whose necklace spilled
Like a cheek from which its pearls were scattered
pearls under the cover of her deep darkness,
When the string was broken from its necklace
وقدْand indeed رفَعَتْshe raised فضْلَthe excess length of أذْيالِهاher trailing hems
وقدْ رفَعَتْ فضْلَ أذْيالِها
لتلْقُطَso that she may pick up جوْهَرَthe jewels أسْلاكِهاof her strings
لتلْقُطَ جوْهَرَ أسْلاكِها
and she has lifted the trailing lengths of her skirts
And it has raised the train of its gown
to pick up the jewels from her strings.
To pick up the gems of its anklets
