أناI مَوْرِدٌa watering place ماnot سُدَّwas shut بابيَmy gate دونَagainst مَنْwhoever
قدْhas شاءَهُdesired it بُخْلاًout of stinginess علَىtoward وُرّادِهِits water-seekers
I am a watering place; my gate was never barred to anyone
who sought it, out of stinginess toward those who come to drink.
لكِنْbut تُرِكْتُI was forsaken لأنّbecause راحةَthe palm of يوسُفٍYusuf
غيثٌrain يعُمُّencompasses الخَلْقَall creation صوْبَthe downpour of عِهادِهِits successive rains
But I was forsaken, because Yusuf’s palm
is rain whose successive showers pour over all creation.
