رائِحَةًtraveling at evening بأفْقِهِacross its horizon غادِيَهْtraveling at dawn
A morning cloud of bounty passed my dwelling,
She passed by my dwellings heading for the dew,
traveling across its horizon at evening and dawn.
Her fragrance traversing the horizon.
فأشْبَهَتْso she resembled زَهْرَthe flowers of الرُبىthe hills نفْحةًin fragrance
وأخْجَلَتْand she shamed زُهْرَthe bright stars of العُلىthe heights بادِيَهْappearing
So she resembled the flowers of the hills in fragrance,
She resembled the scent of flowers in her breeze,
and, appearing, put the bright stars on high to shame.
And shamed the blossoms of oleander in bloom.

A beauty revealed by the guardian of guidance,
The beautiful one revealed her brilliance, and the guide to righteousness,
she thus became a guide to his path.
So she became a leader on his path.

The doves of thought in her garden
sing his praises or laud him,
Sing his praises and gratitude.

warbling of him, though they remain
She proclaims it though she continues
thirsty for a draught at her watering place.
To incline toward roses in their meadows.

ماnot الرَّكْبُthe caravan إلاexcept تابِعٌfollowing حادِيَهْits camel-driver
The men of letters follow her footsteps;
The cultured generation follows her traces,
the caravan merely follows its camel-driver.
As the caravan is but a steadfast follower.

This is the verse they have fallen short
This is the prose which they fell short of,
of, and they have not yet crossed its valley.
And never managed to cross its valley.

Her envier was exposed by his shortcomings,
Those envious of her, their shortcoming proclaimed it,
even if he began summoning his assembly on her behalf.
Even if they pretend to call out her callers.

She brought him to ruin and revealed our affection,
She wished it and revealed our affection,
just in her judgment, yet assailing him.
Judging with justice, well-mannered.

It was brought by the beneficial Sheikh,
soul our souls would ransom.
Whose spirit ransomed our own.

He imbued it with a gentle meaning, by which
by which Time straightened my bent fortunes,
Existence established its announcers.

By it the supporter, my Master, revealed
shown his aid to me against the days.
Over the days his strong resolution.
