The heart melted from the excess of its longing, until
it ended up roasted by what befell it.

I tasted love's flavor, bitter in separation,
yet if it mingles with union, it is sweet.

My patience falls short if it grapples with longing;
so my patience seeks refuge with you from it.

What I kept concealed has become known: the burning anguish of love
that the battered heart held within.
