وَدَّعتُهُ حينَ لا تُوَدِّعُهُ

وَدَّعتُهُ حينَ لا تُوَدِّعُهُ

روحي وَلِكِنَّها تَسيرُ مَعَه

I bade him farewell, though it did not bid him farewell—

I bid him farewell when souls bid not goodbye

my soul; instead, it journeys with him.

My soul walks with him though we're apart

ثُمَّ اِفتَرَقنا وَفي القُلوبِ لَنا

ثُمَّ اِفتَرَقنا وَفي القُلوبِ لَنا

ضيقُ مكانٍ وَفي الدُموعِ سَعَه

ضيقُ مكانٍ وَفي الدُموعِ سَعَه

Then we parted, and in our hearts we had

Then we parted, yet in our hearts still lie

little room, while in our tears there was ample space.

Tight space, and in our tears - breadth.
