And I have an intoxication that keeps me from my sleep,

But sweet intoxication spares me that slumber,

So I cannot tell morning from evening.

Leaving me unsure if it be night or day.

Yes, upon the earth there is ample room,

The earth is vast and open, but I am denied its breadth,

And yet I have been prevented from leaving.

Just as claws are futile when the bird has no wings.
