أأيامO days هذاthis الدهرage كمhow much تعنفينyou treat harshly بيme
كأنas though لمnot تريyou had seen قبليbefore me معنىًa tormented person ولاnor بعديafter me
O days of this age, how harshly you treat me!
How often, O days of this life, do you oppress me,
As though you had seen no tormented soul before me, nor after me.
As if before me you saw no purpose, and after me none.
نوالاًbounty كرجعlike the blink of الطرفthe eye أعجلهhastened it القذىthe mote
وضناًand stinginess كضنlike the jealous guarding of الجفنthe eyelid بالأعينof the eyes الرمدinflamed
Bounty like the blink of an eye hastened by a mote,
Giving freely as the glance turns quickly aside for grit in the eye,
And stinginess like the eyelid's jealous guarding of inflamed eyes.
Withholding like the eyelids from eyes with grit beneath.
فمنso if anyone بكthrough you مشتاقاًlonging إلىfor نجحfulfillment of موعدٍa promise
فهاthen here أناI مشتاقlonging إلىfor خلفthe breaking of الوعدthe promise
So if anyone longs, through you, for a promise's fulfillment,
Let him weep who yearns after the fulfilling of a tryst,
Then here I am, longing for the breaking of a promise.
For here am I yearning after the breaking of a tryst.
فلاfor no خلفbreaking of a promise إلاexcept بعدafter توكيدconfirmation of موعدٍa pledge
ولاand no وعدpromise إلاexcept عنfrom صفاءٍpurity منof الودaffection
For no promise is broken except after a pledge is confirmed,
No keeping of troth save after confirming a tryst,
And no promise comes except from purity of affection.
No tryst save from pure affection and regard.
وقدand indeed قذفتhas cast away نفسيmy soul أجلthe greatest of حظوظهاits shares of fortune
لديكbefore you وفقدand the loss of الحظfortune جزءa part منof الفقدloss
And my soul has cast away its greatest shares of fortune
I cast my own soul because of her hankerings
Before you; and the loss of fortune is a part of loss.
Before you, but the losing of hankering was a part of the loss.
