بيوم تهادى للظراف كبير

بيوم تهادى للظراف كبير

May your brother be your ransom today, a day of joy,

My brother, today is a day of joy

on a day of gift exchange, momentous for the refined.

A day of giving freely to the refined

وكل امريء يهدي على قدر الفه

وكل امريء يهدي على قدر الفه

ولست على مقداره بقدير

ولست على مقداره بقدير

And every man gives according to his dear companion's worth,

And each person gives according to their understanding

but I cannot give in proportion to his worth.

But I am not capable of giving to your measure

وروحي وما يحويه ملكي بأسره

وروحي وما يحويه ملكي بأسره

حقير ولا ارضى لكم بحقير

حقير ولا ارضى لكم بحقير

And my soul, and all that my entire estate contains,

My spirit and all that it contains, my kingdom entire

are paltry, and I will not settle for anything paltry for you.

Is humble and I do not consent to giving you something humble

وقد رضي الله الثناء لنفسه

وقد رضي الله الثناء لنفسه

جزاءً ولن يرضى لها بصغير

جزاءً ولن يرضى لها بصغير

And God has accepted praise for Himself

And God is pleased with praise for Himself

as recompense, and He will not accept anything paltry for Himself.

As repayment, and will not be pleased with less

واهديت شكري والثناء مجازياً

واهديت شكري والثناء مجازياً

وهيهات أن يجزيك شكر نظير

وهيهات أن يجزيك شكر نظير

And I have offered my thanks and praise in repayment,

And I have given my thanks and praise as a reward

yet far be it that a peer's thanks should repay you.

Yet it is impossible that the thanks of a peer would repay you

ولكنه جهد المقل وما الذي

ولكنه جهد المقل وما الذي

حباك بما في وسعه بكفور

حباك بما في وسعه بكفور

But it is the utmost effort of one of little means; and no one who

But it is the effort of the weak, and what is it

has given you what lies within his power is ungrateful.

That has brought you, with what is in your power, to show ingratitude

ونيروزنا هذا جديد نلاقه

ونيروزنا هذا جديد نلاقه

بعفوٍ جديد عن ذنوب شكور

بعفوٍ جديد عن ذنوب شكور

And this Nawruz of ours is new; we greet it

And our Neyrouz today we encounter anew

with fresh pardon for the sins of a grateful man.

With new pardon for sins, thankful

فعرفك الرحمن يمن ابتدائه

فعرفك الرحمن يمن ابتدائه

ولا زلت مخصوصاً بكل حبور

ولا زلت مخصوصاً بكل حبور

So may the Most Merciful make known to you the blessings of its beginning,

So the Merciful has known you since the beginning

and may you always be specially favored with every joy.

And you remain distinguished with all that is good
