منof الأرضthe earth إلاexcept that زدتI grew شوقاًin longing إليكمfor you (plural)
It is sorrow enough that I behold no spot
Enough of sorrow - my eyes see no place
of the earth without my longing for you increasing,
On earth but to you my longing grows more.

تذكرتI remembered أياماًdays مضتpassed ليfor me لديكمwith you (plural)
and that whenever the ease of living grew sweet to me,
Whene'er some ease of life my lot may trace
I remembered days I had spent with you;
I think of days with you now gone before,
فنغصso spoiled تذكاريmy recollection لهاof them طيبthe sweetness عيشتيof my life
فقلتso I said سيفنيwill destroy ذاthis فيأسيhence my despair عليكمover you (plural)
then my recollection of them spoiled the sweetness of my life.
So memory embitters fortune's grace;
So I said, "This will destroy me; hence my despair over you."
I say, "This, too, shall pass;" then weep the more.
