إذا كان قرب الدار ليس بنافع
Why do you fear separation, when separation is a relief
Why do you fear parting when parting gives rest,
if the nearness of the dwelling is of no use?
If being near the house was of no benefit?
إذاif لمnot تزلcease ممنby the one whom تحبyou love مروعاًfrightened
إذا لم تزل ممن تحب مروعاً
بغدرٍby betrayal فإنthen indeed الهجرestrangement ليسis not برائعfrightening
بغدرٍ فإن الهجر ليس برائع
If the one you love keeps you always in fear
If you do not cease being fearful of those you love
of betrayal, then estrangement holds no terror.
Through betrayal, then parting is no refuge.
