أفوضI entrust أسبابيmy affairs إلىto اللَهGod كلهاall of them
وأقنعand I am content بالمقدورwith what is decreed فيهاconcerning them وأرتضيand I accept
I entrust every one of my affairs to God,
I entrust all my affairs to God,
content with what fate ordains in them, and accepting it.
And am content with what is decreed for them, and accept it.
وأسمعand I hear بالتفويضof entrusting matters حتىuntil إذاwhen انتهىreached
ضميريmy innermost thoughts إلىto ماwhat بينناbetween us لمdid not أفوضI entrust
I heed the counsel of surrender, until the moment
And I hear of entrusting matters, until, when
my heart comes to what lies between us—there I do not surrender.
My innermost thoughts reach what lies between us, I do not entrust it.
وباللَهand by God لوif خيرتI were given a choice بينكbetween you غادراًbeing faithless
وبينand between كلاboth الملكينthe two kingdoms تخييرthe offering of a choice مقتضone making a demand
By God, if I were given the choice between you—faithless though you are—
And by God, were I given a choice between you, faithless as you are,
and both kingdoms, with the choice entirely mine,
And both kingdoms, by one demanding a choice,
رضيتكI accepted you حظاًas a portion منهماin place of them both غيرexcept أننيthat I
بهذاwith this الذيwhich ترضاهyou approve of it ليfor me غيرnot مرتضcontent
I would choose you as my portion from the two; yet I
I would accept you as my portion in place of both; yet I
am not content with what you are content to grant me.
Am not content with this, which you deem fit for me.
