وأمنع نفسي أن تنال محرما
I let my eye wander through the garden of beauties,
I walk chastely in the garden of beauties,
and keep myself from attaining what is forbidden.
And forbid my soul from attaining the unlawful.

And my gaze speaks for the interpreter of my thoughts;
And my eyes speak of the translator of my thoughts -
were I not furtively to draw it back, it would speak.
If not for my concealing it, they would have spoken.
