How many nights have I spent awake awaiting their dawn,
While their stars in the sky did not budge,
And my right hand on my heart cooled its heat,
While my left hand under my cheek shed tears.
So I became weary from passion,
While once my heart overflowed with youth.
The slanderers know nothing of this torment,
Of a secret, and none like me can forgive.
If these words are an excuse, I accept it,
But if an apology, one like you forgives.
