ياO غارسplanter of الحبlove بينbetween القلبthe heart والكبدand the liver
هتكتyou tore بالهجرthrough abandonment بينthe bond between الصبرpatience والجلدand fortitude
O planter of love between the heart and the liver,
O you who planted love between my heart and liver
Through abandonment, you have torn the bond between patience and fortitude.
You have separated me with abandonment between patience and skin

حسنgoodness of الرجاءhope فلمso did not يصدرwithdraw ولمand did not يردapproach
When despair called my heart away from you, it was answered
If despair calls my heart away from you, it says to it
By fair hope; so it neither withdrew nor approached.
The goodness of hope, so it did not go forth or return
ياO منthe one whose تقومtakes مقامthe place of الموتdeath فرقتهseparation from him
ومنand the one who يحلoccupies محلthe place of الروحthe soul منwithin جسديmy body
O you whose parting takes the place of death,
O you who takes the place of death when it separates
And you who take the soul's place within my body,
And who takes the place of the soul in my body
قدindeed جاوزwent beyond الشوقlonging بيwith me أقصىthe utmost of مراتبهits degrees
فإنso if طلبتI sought مزيداًmore منهof it لمdid not أجدI find
Longing has carried me beyond its furthest limits;
Yearning has exceeded with me its utmost degrees
So if I seek more of it, I find none.
So if you seek more of it from me, I cannot find

فرقتyou separated بالهجرthrough abandonment بينbetween الروحthe soul والجسدand the body
By God, my soul shall love none but you, even if
By God, I am not accustomed to other than you, even if
You sever soul from body through abandonment.
You separate with abandonment between my soul and my body
إنif توفyou keep faith ليwith me لاnot أردI desire ماas long as دمتyou remain ليmine بدلاًa substitute
وإنand if تعزيتI sought consolation لمdid not أركنI lean إلىtoward أحدanyone
If you keep faith with me, I desire no substitute as long as you are mine.
If you pass away, I do not want another as long as you are replaced
And if I seek consolation, I shall lean on no one.
And if you become inaccessible, I will not lean on anyone
