إذا سُقِيَتْ أرضٌ فقد بُشِّرت أرضُ

إذا سُقِيَتْ أرضٌ فقد بُشِّرت أرضُ

وعِندَ عُمومِ الكُلِّ ينتظرُ البعضُ

وعِندَ عُمومِ الكُلِّ ينتظرُ البعضُ

When one land is watered, another receives glad tidings.

When a land is watered, another land rejoices,

And when all are included, some still wait.

And when rain falls on all, some still hope for more.

وقد ذَبُلَت فِي رَوضِ جُودِكَ زَهرَةٌ

وقد ذَبُلَت فِي رَوضِ جُودِكَ زَهرَةٌ

ثناؤكَ منها فِي الورى يانِعٌ غَضُّ

ثناؤكَ منها فِي الورى يانِعٌ غَضُّ

And a flower has withered in the garden of your generosity,

Though one flower has withered in your garden of generosity,

Whose praise of you among humankind is ripe and fresh.

Your praise remains ever fresh and green.

وأَظلَمَ فِي عُلْيا سمِائكَ كوكَبٌ

وأَظلَمَ فِي عُلْيا سمِائكَ كوكَبٌ

يُسامِي بذكراكَ الظَّلامَ فَيَبيَضُّ

يُسامِي بذكراكَ الظَّلامَ فَيَبيَضُّ

And a star has grown dark in the heights of your sky,

A star has darkened in your high heaven,

It vies with darkness through mention of you, and turns white.

Yet it glows brightly when your name is spoken.

وقد بَسَطَتْ للجُندِ منكَ شفاءَها

وقد بَسَطَتْ للجُندِ منكَ شفاءَها

يَدٌ شَفَّني منها التَّأخُّرُ والقَبضُ

يَدٌ شَفَّني منها التَّأخُّرُ والقَبضُ

And its healing has been extended from you to the troops

Your healing hand has been extended to the army,

By a hand whose delay and withholding have wasted me away.

But my tardiness and reluctance have prevented me from taking it.

وأجنادُ شُكرِي لَمْ تَفُتكَ بِعَرضِها

وأجنادُ شُكرِي لَمْ تَفُتكَ بِعَرضِها

ولا فاتها فِي الأرضِ طُولٌ ولا عَرضُ

ولا فاتها فِي الأرضِ طُولٌ ولا عَرضُ

And the troops of my gratitude have not passed you by in their parade,

And though my troops of gratitude cannot encompass you,

Nor has any length or breadth of the earth escaped them.

Neither length nor breadth on earth can elude them.
