قَدْindeed عادَتِhas returned الشمسُthe sun فِيin أَعلىthe highest of مطالِعِهاits rising places
ولُجَّةُand the deep waters of البحرِthe sea فِيat أَعلىthe highest of مَشَارِعهاits watering places
The sun has indeed returned to the highest of its rising places,
The sun has returned to the heights of its rising,
And the sea's deep waters stand at their highest watering places,
And the swell of the sea to the peaks of its surging,
وعزَّand gained honor نَظْمُthe strand of الهدىguidance فِيin كَفِّthe palm of ناظِمِهِits stringer
وراقَand grew fair مُجْتَمَعُthe gathering of الدنياthe world بِجامِعِهاthrough its unifier
And the strand of guidance has gained honor in its stringer's palm,
And the splendor of guidance to the palm of its arranger,
And the world's gathering has grown fair through its unifier,
And the world community has prospered under its uniter.
وعادَand returned نُورُthe light of جفونٍeyelids فِيin نواظِرِهاtheir pupils
بِهِthrough him وقَرَّتْand settled قلوبٌhearts فِيin مواضِعِهاtheir places
And light has returned to the pupils beneath their lids,
The light has returned to rejuvenated eyes,
Through him, and hearts have settled in their places,
And hearts have settled in their proper stations,
وقابَلَتْهاand met them اللُّهىgenerous gifts فِيin كَفِّthe palm of باذِلِهاtheir giver
وحوزَةُand the domain of الملكِsovereignty فِيin أَكنافِthe shelter of مانِعِهاits defender
And generous gifts have met them in their giver's palm,
And the divine gifts into the hands of their giver,
And the royal domain lies in its defender's shelter.
And the kingdom’s territory into the arms of its protector.
وحطَّand took down رَحْلَthe saddle of الوغىwar عنoff ظهرِthe back of صائِفَةٍa summer campaign

And he has lifted war's saddle from a summer campaign's back,
The burden of turmoil has dismounted the back of the storm-rider,
The enemies' heads turned gray from its battles.
The heads of enemies have turned white from its events,
كادَتْalmost تَهُدُّshatter الصخورَthe rocks الصُّمَّthe deaf روعَتُهاits terror

Its terror almost shattered the deaf rocks,
Its awe has nearly cleft deaf rocks asunder,
But for deafness firmly lodged within their ears.
Had it not been for composure permeating their hearing.

A terror that drove the jinn from their most hidden playgrounds,
It has banished jinn from their most secretive haunts,
And frightened wild beasts in their remotest grazing grounds.
And frightened the wild beasts in the depths of their lairs,
تقودُهاleads it دعوةُthe call to التوحيدِGod's oneness قَدْindeed أَخَذَتْsecured

The call to God's oneness leads it, having secured
Led by the call of divine oneness which has taken
A pledge from God to accept its intercessor's plea,
A pledge from God as its interceding advocate,

And a radiant brow that shone in every darkness,
And a dawn has shone in every darkened night
With piercing guidance and the lights' radiance,
With the penetrating light and rays of its risings,

Leading it toward the enemies with a wind of victory,
With a breeze of victory advancing against the foe
Like the wind of ʿĀd that drove them from their strongholds.
Like the wind of Aad which tore them from their dwellings.
فإِنso if يعوذُواthey seek refuge بآنافِat the noses (peaks) of الجِبالِthe mountains فقدthen already

So if they seek refuge on the mountains' noses, already
If they seek refuge in the cliffs of mountains,
Their noses have come beneath the sword of him who severs them;
Their noses have come against the sword that cleaves them.
أَوor عَلَّلُواthey beguiled بِفِرارٍwith flight أَنفُساًsouls عَلِمَتْhave learned

Or if they beguile with flight souls that have learned
Or they have excused themselves with fleeing lives
That flight is a remedy of no use to them,
That know well that flight is no use to them.
فَماso not النجاةُescape تَمارىis debated فِيin تَفَكُّرِهاtheir thoughts

ولاnor الحياةُlife تَرَاءىappears فِيin مَطامِعِهاtheir hopes
So escape is not even debated in their thoughts,
Salvation does not deceive itself in their thinking,
Nor does life appear among their hopes.
Nor life make itself seen in their hopes.

Rather, death at your hand is written upon hearts
Rather, ruin from you is decreed for them, engraved
That now lie exposed in their resting places.
Upon a folk who have become uncovered in their beds.

Nor is your sword powerless against their strongholds,
Your sword is not helpless against their forts,
Nor does your spearpoint recoil before their mail-clad warrior.
Nor does your blade miss what opposes it.

And you dismounted only long enough for them to descend
You have only dismounted for a time until they descend
Among their loved ones, in their nearest places of death.
Upon your loved ones in the basest of fields.

And you travel along the ways of high glory:
While you, exalted, follow the ways
Intervening in war is among its purest ordinances.
Of rushing to war from its purest laws,
واللهُand God جارُكَyour protector فِيin حِلٍّa halt ومُرْتَحَلٍand a journey

And God is your protector at rest and on the march,
With God as your protecting neighbor, both settled and unsettled,
And throughout the earth's expanse, its near and distant reaches,
In the expanse of the land, both its near and its distant reaches,

Until He raises for you anew across the horizons
Until He stirs for you horizons in succession,
Stars that bring the world good fortune with their rising.
With stars that bring joy to the world with their rising.
