    Lead the steeds and goodness with valor and generosity,

    And join feast to feast for all eternity.

    And take for yourself—don the robes of lasting life,

    So wear out a new one, and replace it with a new one,

    Layering what your forefathers bequeathed you,

    Of robes that clothe you in good fortune:

    وسيفاً وسَيْباً وجَدّاً وجُودَا

    Radiance and glory, dominion and a king,

    And sword and bounty, good fortune and generosity;

    محاسِنَ تبهَرُ فِيهَا السُّعودا

    And what good fortunes scattered upon you:

    Fine qualities in which you outshine the lucky stars;

    Jewels you bestowed from yourself on the bright stars,

    Earrings they adorn themselves with, or necklaces.

    And you—through these, men have been amply covered

    By garments; so don immortality for their sake.

    وعَبَّدْتَ منها المَها والعَبِيدا

    So from them you fashioned bounty and steeds,

    And through them you enslaved oryxes and slaves;

    And in them you arrayed others in jewels and armor,

    And from them you made wraps and striped cloaks trail.

    And how often you have clothed in mourning robes

    Lands against which you donned iron!

    So you made the faith shine with manifest light,

    And inflicted annihilating death upon polytheism:

    وتَوَّجْتَهُنَّ القَنا والبُنُودا

    Battalions you adorned with swords,

    And crowned with spears and banners;

    Keen swords you lodged within necks,

    In familiar abodes, where you made them forget their sheaths,

    تُفَتِّحُ فِي الروضِ روضاً نَضِيدا

    As the bright lights of morning break forth,

    Opening within the garden a garden in ordered bloom;

    وجُوهَ المهالِكِ حُمْراً وسُودا

    And brown spears with which you unveiled to the eyes

    The faces of deadly perils, red and black;

    They show you beneath the curtains of swirling dust

    Eyes you have made forget slumber,

    Places of slaughter to which you brought souls near,

    That sought from them a distant goal.

    So may you long enjoy it—the glory of victory and triumph,

    Assuring increase as you seek still more.

    And may you be congratulated upon it, a victory in festival days,

    Whose blessings are worthy of returning.

    And may you receive it as a feast of good omen, with a promise

    Of victory for you, serving your enemies threats.

    And how often its days have brought to mind your

    Noble stand and praiseworthy deed.

    وعَشْرُ بنانِكَ عُرفاً وَجُودا

    So its ten nights, in merit and devotion,

    And your ten fingers, in kindness and generosity;

    And the day of Mina, with wishes—what an omen,

    Whether you grant desired gifts or receive them!

    And on the day of Arafat we recognized

    Further bounty from God in what He bestowed on you.

    And the sacrificial camels' slaughtering-place recalled your

    Stands where you slaughter lions,

    And there clothe your swords in blood,

    And make your horses trample cheeks there.

    And the casting of pebbles—how often you have pelted

    In defense of the faith, a rebellious demon of unbelief!

    Landmarks the Friend raised up,

    And there proclaimed the pilgrimage, raising his voice.

    So those not yet created answered his call,

    And afterward were brought into being as a new creation:

    Men who answered the Friend's summons,

    And crossed seas and deserts to reach them.

    Just as through you the paths of jihad were filled

    With armies through which you shatter armies.

    And you gave freely, so your bounty summoned petitioners,

    And you ruled supreme, so your eminence summoned delegations.

    And none matched the delegations from whom you accepted

    Pleas for favor to which they bore witness.

    So they greeted you for all who renew their loyalty

    To you—a life-giving greeting that slays the spiteful.

    وأَدْنَوْا إِلَيْكَ صَفِيَّاً بعيدا

    So how many a virtuous kindred soul they made at ease with you,

    And brought near to you a distant faithful friend;

    And how many a noble heart they joined to you,

    And how many a loving breast they opened for you.

    Pledges guaranteed by loyalty,

    With sincerity that guaranteed the pledges you gave.

    May the wise man's expectations never deprive you

    Of certainty, bearing witness over every heart.

    And may your sword remain, in every land,

    A ready watcher over every wayward one.

    And may you remain for the faith a towering mountain,

    And sheltering shade, and a mighty pillar.
