I congratulate you, O feast of hoped-for blessings, on a feast

That greeted you with a name that rings true, so that you may return,

Like your bounty among us, initiating and completing,

And your striving among us, beginning and renewing.

So it granted you assurances of a noble covenant,

And pledges of victory throughout a long life.

And it has filled the days with your virtues,

And their lofty horizons with good omens for you.

And adorned you with a neatly strung necklace of noble deeds,

And you clothed it in a new robe of joy.

And the prayer ground shone with the radiance of your brow,

Of which the face of morning remains envious.

It shone with the light of truth, justice, and reason,

So free men came to you as slaves.

You prostrated yourself before the Lord of the Throne in faith and obedience,

So calamities fell prostrate before you.

And the onlookers directed their eyes toward you,

Eyes that stood as witnesses to their hearts' sincerity.

So you filled them with guidance, goodness, and nobility,

And might against their enemies, and generosity,

And banners of glory that encircled noble qualities—

Eagles with outspread wings that carried lions.

As though the dew of your right hand, so lavishly showered upon them,

Had clothed them in mantles from the richly arrayed garden.

And brocade and embroidery appeared upon them,

As gardens of blossoms, neatly arrayed among the boughs.

And how often your foes wore their mourning garb because of it,

When they donned iron armor upon their saddles.

And how often they filled the open earth with hooves,

And the sky's expanse with dust and banners,

And bright swords that turned the night white and radiant

    Over us, and the adversary's days black;

And blue-tipped spears of al-Khatt that battle set aflame,

So thick necks became their fuel.

Deeds that guarded the realm until they glittered

As pendants and necklaces upon its breast.

For if the armies did not escort you to the enemy,

Mighty victory would become an army for you.

So may you ever remain a defending sword for Islam,

And your brother a strong pillar for the frontiers.

You share with him the cup of loyalty; and if he becomes

Far away, his dwelling is not far from you.

So may you both long enjoy sincere loyalty that brings happiness,

And may you both be inspired to praise that leads to greater bounty.
