Sol 6.1

  1. سَماءُ العُلا منكُمْ وأنتَ لَهَا بَدْرُ

    وأَخلاقُكَ الحسنى كواكِبُها الزُّهْرُ

    The heaven of glory comes from you, and you are its full moon;

    And your fairest virtues are its radiant stars.

  2. وَقَدْ تَمَّ فِي هَذَا الورى بكَ أَنْعُمٌ

    يُقَصِّرُ عن أَدنى عوارِفِها الشُّكْرُ

    And through you, blessings have been perfected in this world,

    Whose least favors gratitude cannot repay.

  3. فَمِنْها النُّهى والحِلْمُ والدينُ والتقى

    وبذلُ اللُّهى والجودُ والبأْسُ والبِرُّ

    Among them are reason, forbearance, faith, and piety,

    And the giving of gifts, generosity, valor, and kindness;

  4. وَزَحْفٌ إِلَى الأَعداءِ أَغراضُهُ العِدى

    وسيفٌ عن الإِسلامِ إِقدامُهُ النَّصْرُ

    And a march against the enemy, with foes its targets,

    And a sword in Islam's defense, whose advance is victory;

  5. وبذلُكَ دونَ الثغرِ نفساً عزيزةً

    حَمَتْ عنه حَتَّى عادَ وَهْيَ لَهُ ثغرُ

    And your offering of a precious life in the frontier's defense,

    Which guarded it until your life became the frontier's own frontier.

  6. وفِي سِرِّ علمِ اللهِ لِي فيكَ أَنَّني

    ودادُكَ لي سِرٌّ وحمدُكَ لي جَهْرُ

    And in God's hidden knowledge of me concerning you is this:

    My love for you is secret; my praise of you is proclaimed.

  7. وذِكْرُكَ لي عزٌّ وعزُّكَ لي غنىً

    وبِرُّكَ لي عَهدٌ وعهدُكَ لي ذُخْرُ

    And speaking of you is my honor; your honor is my wealth.

    And your kindness is a pledge to me; your pledge is my treasure.

  8. وإِنَّكَ أَقصى مَا بَلَغْتُ من المنى

    وإِنَّكَ أَسنى مَا أَفادَنِيَ الدهرُ

    And you are the utmost fulfillment of my wishes,

    And you are the most splendid gift that time has granted me.

  9. وإِنِّي وإِنْ قصَّرْتُ فيكَ مدائِحِي

    فلا قِصَرٌ بالسلكِ إِن عَظُمَ الدُّرُّ

    And though I have kept my praises of you brief,

    No fault lies in the string if the pearls are large.

  10. وما قصَّرَتْ بي هِمَّةٌ عنكَ حُرَّةٌ

    ولا أَمَلٌ حُرٌّ ولا منطِقٌ حُرُّ

    And no noble resolve has failed me in reaching you,

    Nor any noble hope, nor noble speech.

  11. فإِنْ تقبلِ العذرَ المُقَصِّرَ طولَها

    فشُغلي بشكرِ اللهِ فِيكَ هو العذرُ

    So if you accept the excuse that curtailed their length,

    My preoccupation with thanking God for you is that excuse.

  12. فلا قَصَّرَ الرحمنُ عنكَ سيادَةً

    تَمَلّأَها عُمْراً يُمَدُّ بِهِ عُمْرُ

    May the All-Merciful never curtail your lordship;

    May you enjoy it fully for a lifetime through which life is prolonged.
