and turned your ear toward tongues of praise,

The feast swears it has never seen guidance at its truest

and kingship with all its parts united except here.

hereafter, it has already discovered the mine.

It shall surely fill ages with remembrance of your glory,

and bring the ages good tidings of your long life.

O you who bring distant hope near, however far,

and drive great calamity away, however near,

and soothe strangers' longing for their homelands,

    until you have made every heart your home;

you who took from every builder of greatness

a model, never neglecting the upkeep of what you built.

God's Messenger is example enough for me among you,

when he turned from your Mudar kin to the Yemenites.

His native lands grew uneasy with him, a departing traveler,

who found among Adnan no refuge away from you.

The Lord of heaven chose you as his shelter,

to uphold his honor and keep his followers from persecution,

as a comfort to you, and you as a home to him!

You kept faith, cared, and strove,

and protected Islam until it became assured.

You offered freeborn souls in its defense,

before whose proud defiance error bowed and was subdued.

From them you drew righteous swords,

through whose keenness certainty appeared and brought clarity.

With them you struck every favored man who grew defiant,

and with them freed every hostage brought low.

With them you healed the wound of an age that bit us,

and with them dispelled the calamity of harm that touched us.

With them I reached you, O Muzaffar, crossing plains

through every shimmer of mirage, and traversing rugged ground.

With them I linked a dark night, finding my way

by your light for me, to a morning overcast with care.

Darknesses whose stars and full moons seemed

to have sent eyes against us to spy for calamities.

And night-assailing troubles, beside which the mazes of desert

and sea in darkness were less daunting.

Until through you I won all wishes, save that the pebbles

were not granted me as tongues to give you thanks.

For seven, and as many more, I am their all

in adversity; yet all of them together are not me.

    ولْيَهْنِكَ الأَملُ البعيدُ ويَهْنِنا

    Remain safe for them, and may your favor gladden them;

may distant hope gladden you, and gladden us.

May souls ransom your soul, O Muzaffar,

from among us: whenever they are forfeit in pledge, you redeem us

with bounty embracing us when the clouds choke,

and a hand that gathers us when time falls into disorder.

May God protect that hand, and protect us through it,

and guard the lands through it, and ransom them with us.
