O eyes of the envious, turn away from him,
Last, O minister hoped for,
and slink away: his glory is guarded.
And if you last, sorrow will leave us

May God protect a dwelling in which you reside;
I compared it to the Gardens of Eden
for it is indeed pleasant to halt there.
And guarded it beyond any comparison

I have compared it to the Garden of Eden,
In my eyes the beloved is not just one branch
and I compare its precincts with nothing else.
To me, the beloved is in every branch when it sways

To me it is not al-Ma'shuq, 'the Beloved'; rather, every bough

within it is my beloved when you sway.
For it is a blessed, delightful harvest

for it is a blessed, welcoming place on high.
