Where, then, can a wary fugitive from you survive,

when plain and mountain are your two fists upon him?

Whoever turned aside returned with a head that had no body,

save the spear-shafts—and it cannot be borne.

A trace of his blood shows upon his cheek,

as though its redness on his cheek were a blush of shame.
