وَجَمالُكُمْ فَهُوَ الجَمالُ الأحسَنُ
Tongues grow weary describing your beauty,
In describing your beauty, tongues grow weary,
And your beauty is the fairest beauty.
And your beauty is the most beautiful beauty.

وبكيتُهمْ حتّى بكاني المسْكَنُ
O lords who departed, my patience died,
O masters who have left, so my patience died,
And I wept for them until my dwelling wept for me.
And I cried for you until my dwelling wept.

Among you I have a gazelle whose beauty made me recall
For me among you is a gazelle I mentioned for its beauty,
Paradise’s wide-eyed maidens—he is black-haired, dusky, large-eyed.
The eye of heavens, the most ardent and loving eye.

سَهْلٌ ولكنْ بالرِّماحِ مُحَصّنُ
Plain to see, yet veiled within the heart;
Lost but in my conscience concealed,
Easy of approach, yet fortified with spears.
Plain but with spears fortified.

They swore the rose was the blossom of his cheek;
They swore the rose is the flower of his cheek,
The tale-bearers spoke truly, and his two cheeks are lilies.
The slanderers spoke truly and the lily opposed.

Fickle in his pledge, yet his face
Fickle in oath but his face
Changes color only with radiant modesty.
Besides shame, is open and does not change color.

شَكلٌ يُصَادِرُ في الهوى وَيُبَرهنُ
In the line of his cheek-down and the dot of his mole
In the line of his eyebrow and the dot of his mole
Is a figure that postulates and proves in love.
A form that confiscates love and proves itself.
