It is as though the olive trees around the river,
The olives by the river seem
amid gardens adorned with blossoms,
Like emeralds mid flower-beds agleam,

were an emerald necklace fallen from a neck,
Fallen there from the throat and bosom
or scattered beads of bezoar stone.
Of some fair bride on her wedding morn.
