كأنّها الأرضُ من بَرْدِ الهواءِ بها

كأنّها الأرضُ من بَرْدِ الهواءِ بها

وَيَبْسِهِ تَسْتَمِدُّ البردَ منِ زُحَلِ

وَيَبْسِهِ تَسْتَمِدُّ البردَ منِ زُحَلِ

It is as though the earth, with its air so cold

As if it is the earth, from the cold air's chill upon it,

and dry, draws its cold from Saturn.

And its dryness, draws chill from Saturn.

والشَمسُ في أولِ الأبراجِ قد خَرِفتْ

والشَمسُ في أولِ الأبراجِ قد خَرِفتْ

فليسَ تفرُقُ بين الجَدْي والحملِ

فليسَ تفرُقُ بين الجَدْي والحملِ

And the sun, in the first sign of the zodiac, has grown senile,

The sun at the start of the constellations has grown senile,

so it cannot tell Capricorn from Aries.

So it makes no distinction between Aries and Cancer.
