I would give my life for طبيباًa physician فاقَsurpassed البراياhumankind
إذْfor كُحلُهُhis kohl فيin العيونِthe eyes حُسْنُbeauty
I would give my life for a physician who surpassed all humankind,
I'd ransom a healer surpassing the wilds
for his kohl is beauty in the eyes.
When his kohl in eyes is beauty's tune
أسيافُthe swords لحظِthe glance of الحبيبِthe beloved كَلّتْhave grown dull
فَهْيَso they بأسيافهِby his swords تُسَنُّare sharpened
The swords of the beloved’s glance have grown dull,
Swords of the beloved's glance have sharpened
so they are sharpened by his swords.
So with his swords she's honing them
لأَجلهِfor his sake إذْsince غَدَتْthey have become سُيوفاًswords
كُلُّevery طَبيبٍphysician لهُfor him مِسَنُّa whetstone
For his sake, since they have become swords,
For his sake when they've swords become
every physician is a whetstone for him.
Every healer for him a blade does whet
