مكارمٌ ما زالَ في طبَّهِ

مكارمٌ ما زالَ في طبَّهِ

مكارهاً واللّفْظُ فيه اشتباه

مكارهاً واللّفْظُ فيه اشتباه

Makārim has always, in his medical practice,

Its virtues, pureness, still in its character

been a source of misery—and the wording is ambiguous.

Its vices with words that cause confusion

أعني بهِ الغارقَ في ذَقنه

أعني بهِ الغارقَ في ذَقنه

وَلَسْتُ أعني غارقاَ في خراه

وَلَسْتُ أعني غارقاَ في خراه

By him I mean the man sunk in his beard;

I refer to one with a full, bushy beard

I do not mean one sunk in his shit.

And do not mean one sunk in his own waste
