خَفيتُ على العيون فلو تراني

خَفيتُ على العيون فلو تراني

وَعشِقُكَ في الحقيقة قد بَراني

وَعشِقُكَ في الحقيقة قد بَراني

I was hidden from all eyes, so they did not see me.

I have become hidden from sight—if only you could see me!

And I fell in love with you all—in truth, that love has worn me away.

And love for you has truly worn me away.

أَعيّاناً أُشاهدُ أم مَناماً

أَعيّاناً أُشاهدُ أم مَناماً

فقد أفندت من وَلهٍ عَياني

فقد أفندت من وَلهٍ عَياني

Is it a pair of eyes I behold—or a dream?

Do I behold waking reality, or a dream?

For, in my rapture, I have come to mistrust my own sight.

For, in lovesick bewilderment, I have judged my sight false.
