ألاlisten! بَلِّغِtell المُصْفَرَّthe yellowed one عَنِّيِon my behalf وإنْeven if يَكُنْhe is
ألا بَلِّغِ المُصْفَرَّ عَنِّيِ وإنْ يَكُنْ
أخَسَّthe basest الورىhumankind قَدْراًin worth لَدَيَّin my eyes وأَحقَراand most contemptible
أخَسَّ الورى قَدْراً لَدَيَّ وأَحقَرا
Go, tell the Yellowed One this from me, though he may be
Listen, tell the yellowed one on my behalf, even if he is
In my eyes the lowest of humankind in worth, and the most contemptible:
the basest of humankind in my eyes, and the most contemptible:
تباخَلْتَyou affected miserliness حتّىuntil صِرْتَyou became أصفَرَyellow مُنْتَناًfoul-smelling
تباخَلْتَ حتّى صِرْتَ أصفَرَ مُنْتَناً
فكنتَso you were جديراًdeserving أنْto تُلَقّبَyou be nicknamed
فكنتَ جديراً أنْ تُلَقّبَ
You persisted in miserliness until you became yellow and foul-smelling,
You affected miserliness until you turned yellow and foul-smelling,
And thus you well deserved to be called by that name.
so you deserved to be given a nickname.
