وَمَنْزلٍ حُفَّ بالرِّياضِ فَما

وَمَنْزلٍ حُفَّ بالرِّياضِ فَما

تُعْدَمُ نَوراً به ولا نورا

تُعْدَمُ نَوراً به ولا نورا

And a dwelling ringed by gardens, so you are not

A home enveloped in gardens, it has

deprived of blossoms there, nor of light.

No lack of light within, nor light without,

وكانَ خَوراً تَلْهو النفوسُ به

وكانَ خَوراً تَلْهو النفوسُ به

وزيدَ ماءً فَصارَ ماخورا

وزيدَ ماءً فَصارَ ماخورا

And it was an inlet where souls took their pleasure;

Once a creek where souls found joyful sport,

and water was added to it, so it became a brothel.

Now increased in water, an overflowing spout.
