They said, “You lampooned Abu al-Husay-
They said you have satirized Abu al-Husayn

إنْif كُنتُI was رُمتُI sought هِجاءَهُlampooning him
إنْ كُنتُ رُمتُ هِجاءَهُ
يوماًone day أراهُI see him بِفردِwith a single عَيْنِeye
يوماً أراهُ بِفردِ عَيْنِ
If I have sought to lampoon him,
If I have thrown his satire one day
on any day, may I see him with a single eye.
