Behind his discernment, noble qualities shine through,

He sees beyond his noble acumen

as wine shines from behind the glass.

The whisper of the breeze behind the glass

وما طلب الكلام الحرّ الا

وما طلب الكلام الحرّ الا

أتى بين انفراد وازدواج

أتى بين انفراد وازدواج

And never did he seek noble speech but

And he did not seek unrestrained speech

it came, singly and in pairs.

Except between solitude and company

أقام العلم وهو ليس يبدو

لنا منه سوى نتف خداج

He established learning while it was not visible

He established knowledge though it does not seem

to us except in incomplete fragments.

To us except wisps of dawn

وكان الناس في ظلمات جهل

وكان الناس في ظلمات جهل

فما جليت بغير بني سراج

فما جليت بغير بني سراج

And the people were in the darkness of ignorance,

And people were in the darkness of ignorance

which was dispelled by none but the sons of Siraj.

So it was not illuminated without the lamps of the Sarraj family
