swift to pardon, slow to take revenge.

They lie who claim that lofty honors

The claimants lied that grandeur

are found in the tips of bloodied, straightened spears.

Abides in the breasts of educated women

إنما المجد والندى والمساعي

والردى في أسنةِ الأقلام

Glory, generosity, and noble endeavors,

Indeed glory, benevolence, efforts

and death, lie only in the spearpoints of pens.

And degradation are in the tongues of pens
