Your affairs, my lord, have bewildered my innermost self.

And your words about branching have made me forget myself.

For I do not know with what you will answer me,

Though I know the root lies in what has come from me.

And by God, you do not wrong me; rather,

The souls of humankind, of themselves, wrong themselves.

So blame or submit, for things are as you see.

And it comes not from intuition, nor from conjecture,

But it is sound, verified knowledge,

Which the spirits brought in the darkness of the overcast sky.
