بذكر الله تزدادُ الذنوبُ

بذكر الله تزدادُ الذنوبُ

وتحتجبُ البصائرُ والقلوبُ

وتحتجبُ البصائرُ والقلوبُ

With remembrance of God, sins increase.

With God's remembrance, sins increase

And inner perceptions and hearts become veiled.

And hearts and insights are veiled

وترك الذكر أفضل منه حالاً

وترك الذكر أفضل منه حالاً

فإنَّ الشمسَ لها غروبُ

فإنَّ الشمسَ لها غروبُ

And abandoning remembrance is a better state than remembrance itself.

To leave remembrance is better for now

For indeed, the sun has a setting.

For the sun itself sets
