من كان يبطش بالرحمنِ فهو فتى

كان التكرُّم هجيراً له فعلا

كان التكرُّم هجيراً له فعلا

Whoever strikes through the All-Merciful is a noble youth.

He who shows mercy, though his strength allows him to punish, is the best of men.

Generosity was his constant habit in deed.

Generosity poured from him, freely given.

فاسأله إذ يقبض الدنيا ويبسطها

فاسأله إذ يقبض الدنيا ويبسطها

يداك تفعل كما ربكم فعلا

يداك تفعل كما ربكم فعلا

So ask him when he contracts the world and expands it.

Ask him, as he gives and takes this mortal world:

Your two hands act just as your Lord acted.

His hands do only as the Lord's hands have done.
