Whoever is the face of the Real does not perish,

and possesses the cosmos, yet is not possessed,

and perceives the thing without an instrument

of sense belonging to Him; nor is He perceived.

Whoever has witnessed the matter sees that

when the perceiver becomes realized through Him,

His names vanish from the world,

and His essence is the essence that is perceived.

So if you weigh yourself against Him or against us,

then He has greater mastery over all this.

This exposition of ours leads to the conclusion

that whoever makes the matter one is the polytheist,

and that, were it not for 'I', there would be no

judgment; yet there is no 'I' there, so leave it.

And if it is there, then there is for me no

pronoun; so tell them, 'Associate partners!'

    For whoever does not have

His names is indeed led astray.
