    When you say, “O God,” He says, “I am you.”

    So invoke Me only by what you have specified from yourself.

    And specify what you desire through names of Ours,

    through your state, or in words, if you have been enabled.

    وإن كان بالألفاظ أنت إذ أنتا

    For if it arises from a state, He answers, heeding the call;

    and if it is in words, it is you, since you are you.

    وإنْ لم يكن هذا فما كنتَ إذ كنتا

    But on condition of obedience to Our command;

    and if this is not so, you were not when you were.

    وأعلنه أيضاً إذا أنت أعلنتا

    I keep it secret when you keep it secret, and the speech is Ours;

    and I proclaim it too when you proclaim it.

    I mentioned you among all the noble leaders

    of the angels, when you had been sparing with remembrance.

    And the matter of your existence was of little account to created beings,

    because of their ignorance; rather, they were of little account to Me, but you were not.

    So invoke Me only when you are certain,

    for I answer whenever you call, even if you are faithless.

    You place demands on Me for a time, in return for what came

    to you of obligation from Me, even if you have drawn away.

    فيأتي منكم من يعينني عنتا

    I saw you disobey Me, while My essence is your essence;

    so from among you comes one who aids Me in hardship.

    I act for you in what you undertake for Me,

    so We requited you according to how you yourself had dealt.

    I softened for you what was hard in the pillar of My strength,

    because, in the time of imposed duties, you were pliant toward Me.

    I safeguard My honor for you and preserve your very being,

    for when I was taken captive by you, you kept Me safe.
