لولا مطالبتي لم يثقل اليومَ

لولا مطالبتي لم يثقل اليومَ

ولا أحسَّ به للخفة القومُ

ولا أحسَّ به للخفة القومُ

Were it not for the demand upon me, it would not weigh heavily today,

Had I not asked, this day would not be heavy

Nor would the people feel it, because of its lightness.

Nor would people feel its lightness

يومُ الصيامِ له ثقلٌ يحسُّ به

يومُ الصيامِ له ثقلٌ يحسُّ به

من صامه والذي لربنا الصوم

من صامه والذي لربنا الصوم

The day of fasting has a weight felt by

The day of fasting has a heaviness felt

Whoever fasts it; and what belongs to our Lord is fasting,

By those who fasted, and fasting is for our Lord

لأنه نعتُ تنزيهٍ وليس لنا

لأنه نعتُ تنزيهٍ وليس لنا

نعم ويعضده في ذلك الشيم

نعم ويعضده في ذلك الشيم

For it is an attribute of transcendence, and is not ours.

For it is an attribute of glorification and we have

Yes, and character traits support it in that.

No bounty, and it is supported in that by propriety

وليس يدري بشيء من فضيلته

وليس يدري بشيء من فضيلته

إلا إمامٌ له من دهرِه يومُ

إلا إمامٌ له من دهرِه يومُ

And no one knows anything of its excellence

And none knows anything of its merit

Except an imam who has a day from his lifetime.

Except a leader who has a day of it in his life

وليس في حضراتِ الكون أكمل من

وليس في حضراتِ الكون أكمل من

وجود حضرة ما يأتي به النوم

وجود حضرة ما يأتي به النوم

And among the realms of existence, nothing is more perfect than

And in the worlds' presences there is nothing more perfect than
