Were it not for my receptivity, I would not have seen my existence.
Had I not accepted, I'd not have seen my being,
And through it You favored me as I witnessed
And through it You blessed my state of witnessing.

myself; so look into the signs of my wisdom.
Regard me, look into the signs of my wisdom,
One knows, through 'whether' [unclear wording], who was the source of my existence.
Who knows the source of my being and its origin?
وبهاand through it تميزbecame discernible منfrom كتابيmy book كونهhis being

ولماand when قضىhe decreed فيin علمهhis knowledge بمزيدِfor an increase
And through it His being was discerned from my book.
And through it distinguish those of my creation,
And when, in His knowledge, He decreed an increase,
And why in His knowledge He willed my increase.

and He is the Self-Sufficient, and I do not know His essence
He is The Rich, while I cannot know His essence,
except through Him, and it is exalted beyond my definition.
Except through Him - transcending my limits.

When we knew His generosity through His existence,
When we knew His generosity through His being,
through separation I departed from my affirmation of oneness.
Through otherness, I lost my unicity.

God knows that I was not Him,
God knows I’m not Him, or as though I’m not,
or as though I were, except by the cheek of my forefathers.
Except by the cheek of my ancestors.

I divested myself of His names and attributes,
I’ve been stripped of His Names, Attributes,
and His existence and His faces, by my limits.
And Being and Aspects by my limits.

Were it not for my acknowledgment of Him who is my origin,
Had I not confessed to Him who is my origin,
I would not have spoken of triplicity [uncertain reading] and singularity.
I'd not have said, “Distinction and unicity.”
