قدمناwe arrived علىupon أرضِthe land of الحجازِthe Hijaz غديةone morning
وجاءand came بشيرُbearer of glad tidings القومِof the people قدalready بلغattained المنىthe wishes
We arrived in the land of the Hijaz one morning.
We arrive at the land of Hejaz in the morning
And the people's herald came, having attained his wishes.
And the messenger of the people comes announcing we have reached Mina
أياO صاحبيَّmy two companions عرِّجاturn aside, both of you بيwith me علىto الصفاal-Safa
نطوفwe circle بهaround it أوor بالمحصَّبِaround al-Muhassab منin مِنىMina
O my two companions, turn aside with me to al-Safa.
Oh my companion, take me to Safa
Let us circle it, or al-Muhassab in Mina.
So we may circumambulate it or the Jamarat from Mina
فمنfor whoever طافَcircled يوماًone day بينbetween مروةَMarwa والصفاand al-Safa
ينزهis exalted يومَon the day of الحشرthe Gathering فيin موقفthe station of السّويthe upright
For whoever circles one day between Marwa and al-Safa
For he who circumambulates one day between Marwah and Safa
Will be exalted on the Day of Gathering, at the station of the upright.
Will be protected on the Day of Resurrection in the Station of Sua
فكمso how great بينbetween مطلوبٍone who is sought يطوفُcircles بعرشهaround his throne
وآخرand another يسعىstrives بينbetween مروةَMarwa والصفاand al-Safa
How vast, then, the difference between one who is sought, circling his throne,
So how many desired goals are sought by circling a throne
And another who strives between Marwa and al-Safa!
While another strives between Marwah and Safa
فهذيso these عباداتُacts of worship المرادof the one desired تخلَّصَتْhave become pure
وأنْand that ليسthere is not للإنسانfor a human being غيرُother than الذيthat which سعىhe strove for
These, then, are the devotions of the one desired, made pure.
These acts of worship and purification are intended
And that a human being has nothing but what he has striven for.
For man has naught but what he worked for
