نحن سرُّ الأزليّ

بالوجودِ الأبديّ

بالوجودِ الأبديّ

We are the secret of the Beginningless One,

We are the secret of eternity

through everlasting existence;

With eternal existence

إذ ورثنا خُلق المظا

إذ ورثنا خُلق المظا

هر فينا الهاشميّ

هر فينا الهاشميّ

for we inherited the character of the one manifest

As we inherited the nature of phenomena

among us—the Hashimite.

Al-Hashimi is manifest in us

واعتلينا واستوينا

واعتلينا واستوينا

بالمقامِ القدسيّ

بالمقامِ القدسيّ

And we ascended and became established

We ascended and were established

in the sacred station.

In the most sacred abode

ووهبنا ما وهبنا

ووهبنا ما وهبنا

سرّ بدرِ الحبشيّ

سرّ بدرِ الحبشيّ

And we bestowed what we bestowed

And we were granted what we were granted

upon the secret of Badr al-Habashi.

The secret of the Abyssinian full moon

وبعثناه رسولاً

للرئيس الندسيّ

And we sent him as a messenger

to the discerning chief,

To the most high lord

بكتاب رقمته

بعلومٍ وسمتها

“The Position of the Lofty Star,

The position of the Highest Star

ومطالعُ هلا

ومطالعُ هلا

لين بأفق قطبيّ

لين بأفق قطبيّ

and the Rising-Places of Two Crescent

And rising places of splendor

Moons on a Polar Horizon.”

On the horizon of the Celestial Pole

حرّضَ الناس على ني

حرّضَ الناس على ني

It urged the people toward attainment

He urged people towards

of practical existence,

Acquiring practical existence

ونهايات التلقي

ونهايات التلقي

بالمقام الخلقيّ

بالمقام الخلقيّ

and the utmost reaches of reception

And the endpoints of receiving

in the creaturely station.

In the created abode

ومشت أسماءُ ذاتي

ومشت أسماءُ ذاتي

في وضيعٍ وعليّ

في وضيعٍ وعليّ

And the names of my essence walked

And the names of my essence walked

through the lowly and the lofty.

Among the noble and the humble

فالذي آمن منهم

فالذي آمن منهم

لم يزل حّياً بحيّ

لم يزل حّياً بحيّ

So whoever among them believed

So those who believed in him

remained ever alive through a living one;

Remain alive in the Living One

والذي أعرض منهم

والذي أعرض منهم

لم يفز منا بشيّ

لم يفز منا بشيّ

and whoever among them turned away

While those who turned away

gained nothing from us.
