Visit the dwelling of loved ones to whom loyalty is pledged.
My abode neighbors the dwellings of friends with enduring ties
Clouds poured down upon them, their rainfall gentle and lasting.
Clouds have poured over them whose showers are lasting

شَوقاً لِتُخبِرَكَ الأَرواحُ أَينَ هُمُ
And breathe in the wind from the direction of their land,
Inhale the wind from the direction of their land
Longingly, so that the winds may tell you where they are.
Yearning for the spirits to tell you where they are

حَيثُ العَرّارُ وَحيثُ الشيحُ وَالكَتَمُ
I think they have pitched their tents among the bān trees of Iḍam,
I reckon they have camped at twisted heath
Where ʿarār grows, and where wormwood and katam grow.
Where the jujube, artemisia, and prickly pear grow
