هذا الذي قلته في الله من صفة
اللهGod جاءbrought بهit فيin الذكرthe Reminder مسطوراinscribed
الله جاء به في الذكر مسطورا
This description I have given of God—
This description of God that I have spoken
God brought it forth, inscribed in the Reminder,
God has brought it in the Book inscribed
علىon لسانthe tongue of رسولٍa messenger سيِّدٍa master ندسٍdiscerning
على لسان رسولٍ سيِّدٍ ندسٍ
إذwhen طهرpurified اللهGod أهلَthe people of البيتِthe House تطهيراthorough purification
إذ طهر الله أهلَ البيتِ تطهيرا
on the tongue of a messenger, a discerning master,
On the tongue of a noble, generous Prophet
when God purified the people of the House with thorough purification.
When God purified the People of the House with purification
فلمso did not ينلهمtouch them لذاfor that reason فيin عرضهمtheir honor دنسٌdefilement
فلم ينلهم لذا في عرضهم دنسٌ
إذwhen شمرواthey tucked up ذيلهمtheir hem للنصرfor victory تشميراa thorough tucking-up
إذ شمروا ذيلهم للنصر تشميرا
Thus no defilement touched them in their honor,
So no blemish touched their honor
when they firmly tucked up their hems for victory.
