علومُsciences الذوقِspiritual tasting ليسthere is not لهاfor them طريقٌa path
علومُ الذوقِ ليس لها طريقٌ
تعينهmark it out الأدَّلةproofs للعقولfor the intellects
تعينه الأدَّلة للعقول
The sciences of spiritual tasting have no path
The sciences of taste have no path
That proofs can mark out for the intellects,
Shown by proofs to intellects
سوىexcept عملٍacting بمشروعٍaccording to what is prescribed وأخذٍand adherence
سوى عملٍ بمشروعٍ وأخذٍ
بناموسٍto a sacred law يكونis معwith القبولِacceptance
بناموسٍ يكون مع القبولِ
Save acting according to what is prescribed, and adherence
Except sincere work with acceptance
To a sacred law, accompanied by acceptance.
And a law aligned with approbation
وهمةand the resolve صادقٍof one sincere جَلدsteadfast شؤوسunyielding
وهمة صادقٍ جَلد شؤوس
أدلُّmore guiding منthan الدليلthe guide علىupon ذلولa docile mount
أدلُّ من الدليل على ذلول
And the resolve of one sincere, steadfast, and unyielding
And the resolve of an earnest soul
Is a surer guide than a guide upon a docile mount.
