The Lord is known as absolute and conditioned,

with regard to names and attributes belonging to Him.

And even if conditioning were absent, He would be conditioned

by the reality of absoluteness in affirmation.

Thus, for them, the Lord is the Lord of belief,

and He is the one who has come in the verses.

For every belief concerning God there is a sign,

and with it He adorns Himself when He comes,

until they say, “Indeed, this is our Lord.”

Exalted is God above indwelling in any essence.

Thus, from the aspect of nearness, He has a connection,

and He is, in essence, independent of our existence.

And so the rule of mutual relation arose between us,

between an existing unity and dispersion.

So I saw a being bearing the attribute of our existence,

and I knew a being without distinguishing marks.
