The law is twofold: the law of the messengers and of the sages.

And all of it is held in regard, for whoever understands,

In God's sight, for God has established it

As an upright law for whoever understands once he knows.

Indeed, God is the one who reveals that to

Their hearts, while they are unaware of what

He has cast into the heart—wisdom and judgment—

For they claimed that they were learned men.

And they do not know that God has taught them.

Thus it has reached us in the saying of the ancients.

For they were ignorant of what we know

From God, who has judged in truth.

So we are more blessed than they at our resurrection,

And tomorrow they will claim that they are leaders

In spirit, though their retinues have betrayed them.

So, even if they attain bliss, they are not free of regret.

So we have greater knowledge of what they said and believed,

And we have seen no foothold for them in our knowledge.

And we are people of witnessing on our path,

While they, with their thoughts, are in bewilderment and blindness.
