فيا ليتَ شعري هل يرى الناس ما أرى

من العلم في القرآن والنورِ والهدى

من العلم في القرآن والنورِ والهدى

Oh, if only I knew whether people see what I see

Oh, if only my people could see what I see

of knowledge in the Qur'an, and light, and guidance.

Of the knowledge in the Quran, its light and guidance!

لقد جمعَ الله الكريمُ بفضلِه

لقد جمعَ الله الكريمُ بفضلِه

ورحمته بين الأودَّاء والعِدى

ورحمته بين الأودَّاء والعِدى

God, the Generous, has indeed united, through His grace

God, the Generous, has brought together by His grace

and His mercy, friends and enemies.

Those once filled with hatred to be loving and kind.

وما كلُّ قربٍ كائنٌ عن قرابةٍ

وما كلُّ قربٍ كائنٌ عن قرابةٍ

كمثلي وإنّ الحقَّ بالكامل ارتدى

كمثلي وإنّ الحقَّ بالكامل ارتدى

And not every nearness arises from kinship,

Not all kinship is of blood or birth -

as in my case; indeed, the Real has clothed Himself in the perfect one.

I'm an example, though fully imbued with truth.

وكان كمالي فيه بالصورة التي

وكان كمالي فيه بالصورة التي

خُصصت بها فانظره في باطن الردا

خُصصت بها فانظره في باطن الردا

And my perfection in Him lay in the form

My perfection was predestined and decreed

with which I was singled out; so behold Him within the cloak.

So look within, where mysteries are revealed.

وفي سورةِ الشورى إبان وجودها

وفي سورةِ الشورى إبان وجودها

بديّ لمن قد فاز فيها إذا ابتدا

بديّ لمن قد فاز فيها إذا ابتدا

And in Surah al-Shura, at the time of its coming into being,

In Surat Ash-Shura the signs are clear

it is manifest to whoever has triumphed in it when he begins.

For those who begin with faith when reading here

وأنزلنا في عالمِ الخلق قدوةً

وأنزلنا في عالمِ الخلق قدوةً

أئمتها وأسوةً لمن اقتدى

أئمتها وأسوةً لمن اقتدى

And we sent down into the world of creation, as a model,

We sent as an exemplar for all mankind

its imams, and as an example for whoever followed.

A guide and role model for those who seek the divine

فللَّه ما يبقى ولله ما مضى

فللَّه ما يبقى ولله ما مضى

فلم يوجد الأشياء خلاقها سدى

فلم يوجد الأشياء خلاقها سدى

So to God belongs what remains, and to God what has passed.

What came before and what is yet to be

For their Creator did not bring things into being in vain.

All belongs to Allah for eternity

وإني لعلاّم بما جئتكم به

وإني لعلاّم بما جئتكم به

وما أنا ممن حار فيه وقلَّدا

وما أنا ممن حار فيه وقلَّدا

And I am indeed deeply versed in what I have brought you,

I come with knowledge of what I was sent

and I am not among those who were bewildered by it and blindly imitated.

Not blindly following traditions of old

وإنّ لنا في كلِّ حالٍ مواقفاً

وإنّ لنا في كلِّ حالٍ مواقفاً

ومقعدَ صدقٍ في الغيوبِ ومشهدا

ومقعدَ صدقٍ في الغيوبِ ومشهدا

And in every state we indeed have stations,

In every state we take our destined stand

and a seat of truth in the unseen realms, and a place of witnessing.

Honest and true throughout the unseen land

وإني ممن أسلم الأمر فيكمُ

وإني ممن أسلم الأمر فيكمُ

إليه وممن بالإمامة قلَّدا

إليه وممن بالإمامة قلَّدا

And I am indeed among those in your midst who surrendered the affair

I submitted my soul completely to His call

to Him, and among those He invested with the imamate.

And by His authority I now lead all

أنا خاتمٌ للأولياء كما أتى

أنا خاتمٌ للأولياء كما أتى

بأنَّ ختام الأنبياءِ محمدا

بأنَّ ختام الأنبياءِ محمدا

I am a seal of the saints, just as it has been related

I'm the seal of friends, as told before

that the seal of the prophets is Muhammad.

Muhammad was the seal of prophets, nothing more

ختامَ خصوصٍ لا ختامَ ولاية

ختامَ خصوصٍ لا ختامَ ولاية

تعم فإنّ الختم عيسى المؤيَّدا

تعم فإنّ الختم عيسى المؤيَّدا

A seal of particular sainthood, not a seal of sainthood

A special seal, not of sainthood cast wide

that encompasses all; for the seal is Jesus, the supported one.

That title belongs to Jesus, the fortified

لقد منح الله العبيدَ قصيدةً

لقد منح الله العبيدَ قصيدةً

يقوم بها يومَ القيامةِ مُنشدا

يقوم بها يومَ القيامةِ مُنشدا

God has indeed bestowed on the humble servant a poem

God granted me words that will suffice

with which he will stand on the Day of Resurrection, reciting,

On Judgement Day, recited as sacrifice

على رأسِ مبعوثٍ إلى خير أمّة

على رأسِ مبعوثٍ إلى خير أمّة

لقد طاب أصلاها شمياً ومولدا

لقد طاب أصلاها شمياً ومولدا

at the head of a messenger sent to the best community.

Above the messenger sent to the best nation

Indeed, its two roots were sweet in fragrance and birth.

Noble in lineage and birth destination
